Privacy Policy

Mosaic is built so that your information stays on your device.

Last updated October 14, 2026

In short

  • Mosaic has no account, no sign-in, and no Mosaic server. We never receive your data.
  • Your calendar, reminders, location, health data, and home stay on your device. Mosaic changes nothing, except to mark a reminder done when you tick it on a widget.
  • Mosaic has no ads, no analytics, and no tracking, and it doesn't sell or share your information.
  • The only things that leave your device go to Apple: an approximate location for the weather, and what you type when you search for a place.

Who we are

Mosaic is an app for iPhone and iPad made by Dan Ducat ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Mosaic app and its widgets. If you have a question about it, write to support@ducat.dev.

What Mosaic reads, and why

Mosaic asks for each kind of access only when you choose to allow it, and works without any of them. You can change your choices at any time in the Settings app.

AccessWhat Mosaic does with it
CalendarReads your events on the device to draw Agenda, Next Event, Days Remaining, Birthdays, and Date. Event details are never stored outside Calendar or sent anywhere, with one exception: the location of an event you tie a widget to may be sent to Apple Maps to find where it is (see below). The event you choose, and the calendars you choose for a widget, are named in that widget's own settings on your device.
RemindersReads your incomplete reminders on the device to draw Reminders, from the lists you choose for each widget. When you tick a reminder's circle on a widget, Mosaic marks that reminder done in Reminders; it changes nothing else. Reminder details are never stored outside Reminders or sent anywhere.
Location (While Using)Finds the weather, sunrise, sunset, and altitude where you are. Mosaic stores your location only rounded to about 1 km, with an elevation rounded to 10 m. You can choose a place instead and never share your location.
Health (read only)Reads activity, workouts, sleep, heart rate, weight, and mindful minutes to draw Fitness and Health elements. Mosaic keeps only daily totals, averages, and latest values, with no samples, routes, or locations, and writes nothing to Health.
Home (read only)Reads your primary home's temperatures, locks, lights, and water accessories while the app is open, so widgets can show the last reading. Mosaic never controls an accessory.
FocusIf you add Mosaic's Focus filter, it keeps the identifiers of the calendars that Focus should show.

What stays on your device

To draw your widgets, Mosaic keeps a small amount of information in storage shared only between the app and its widgets, on your device: your settings and appearance choices, the places you save (a name, a coordinate rounded to about 1 km, and a time zone), the identifiers of calendars you've turned off, the health summary and home snapshot described above, your last rounded location, and the latest weather. It holds no event or reminder titles, attendees, or health samples.

This storage is protected by your device's encryption. Like other app data, it can be included in your device's backups. Deleting Mosaic deletes it.

What leaves your device

Mosaic sends information to Apple in three cases, and nowhere else:

  • Weather. To get the weather, Mosaic sends an approximate coordinate (rounded to about 1 km) for your location or for a place you chose to Apple's WeatherKit service. A widget that shows no weather makes no request.
  • Place search. When you search for a place to save, the text you type is sent to Apple Maps to find matches.
  • An event's location. When you tie a widget to an event, its location is sent to Apple Maps to find the place, unless the event already has a map location. The place found (a city, a coordinate rounded to about 1 km, and its time zone) is kept on your device, with no event title.

Apple handles these requests under the Apple Privacy Policy. Weather data is provided by Apple Weather.

What we collect

Nothing. Mosaic has no server and no account, includes no analytics, advertising, or tracking code, and we can't see how you use it. Mosaic doesn't track you across apps or websites.

If you choose to share diagnostics with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. These come to us through Apple and contain no information from your calendar, reminders, health data, or home. If you write to us, we use your email only to reply.

Children

Mosaic collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Your choices

  • Turn Calendar, Reminders, Location, or Home access on or off in Settings > Apps > Mosaic.
  • Turn Health access on or off in the Health app: tap your picture, then Apps, then Mosaic.
  • Delete a World Clock city in Mosaic at any time, or delete the app to remove everything it keeps.

Changes to this policy

If Mosaic's handling of information changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change reaches the App Store.
